1. Age will be determined as of January 1
2. Musicians who have received compensation to play at a feis are not eligible.
3. Competitor must supply their own instrument and be capable of playing the melody of tunes specified
in the syllabus.
4. Competitor must be a resident of North America.
5. Competitor must be prepared to play at a metronomically correct speed.
6. Competitor must report to the assigned stage, ready to compete, when the scholarship competition is
announced. Under no circumstance will the competition be delayed because a competitor is not .
present.
UNDER 15 YEARS AGE CATEGORY $500.00 SCHOLARSHIP
Competitor must be prepared to play two tunes of the adjudicator’s choice from the following
categories:
Slip Jig 40 bars at traditional speeds Approximately 115-120
Reel 48 bars at traditional speeds Approximately 115-120
Hornpipe 40 bars at traditional speeds 138
Jig 48 bars at traditional speeds 115-120
The Competitor will play tune twice over with an 8 bar introduction. A dancer selected by the feis committee will dance 2 steps (32 bars) and begin dancing immediately following the 8 bar introduction. The candidate will continue playing until the tune has been completed twice over
Repeat procedure for the second tune.
15 YEARS AND UNDER 25 YEARS AGE CATEGORY $500.00 SCHOLARSHIP
Competitor must be prepared to play two tunes of the adjudicator’s choice from the following categories.
Slip Jig 40 bars 113 metronomic speed
Reel 48 bars 113 metronomic speed
Hornpipe 40 bars 138 metronomic speed
Jig 48 bars 73 metronomic speed
The Competitor will play tune twice over with an 8 bar introduction. A dancer selected by the feis committee will dance 2 steps (32 bars) and begin dancing immediately following the 8 bar introduction. The candidate will continue playing until the tune has been completed twice over.
Repeat procedure for the second tune.
There will be no second or third places awarded in the music competition.
